Who We Are:

Hey Feelings is building the world's first complete emotional learning ecosystem designed for kids (ages 3-9), their parents, and educators. We combine engaging physical products (like board games, toys, and books) with interactive digital tools (including our Hey Feelings Academy platform and upcoming app) and a universe of relatable characters. Our mission is to make understanding and navigating emotions a positive, accessible, and skills-building experience for young children and the adults who support them.

We are a passionate, creative, mission-driven team, grounded in expert knowledge of child development and social-emotional learning (SEL). We're backed by award-winning creators and industry veterans, and we're looking for dedicated individuals to join us in scaling our impact from our base in Poland, reaching families across North America, Europe, and Australia.

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to shape intuitive, engaging, and delightful digital experiences across the Hey Feelings ecosystem. This is a part-time contractor or project-based role focused on designing user interfaces and experiences for our Hey Feelings Academy web platform, upcoming mobile app, and potentially our Therapy tools. You will translate user needs, SEL principles, and business requirements into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that are both functional and fun for kids, parents, and educators.

What You'll Do:

  • Design user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes for web and mobile platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent design system and UI library for Hey Feelings digital products.
  • Collaborate closely with co-founders, developers, and potentially the SEL expert to understand user needs and translate them into user-centered design solutions.
  • Incorporate principles of child-friendly design, accessibility, and engaging interaction patterns.
  • Potentially conduct or participate in user research and usability testing sessions to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
  • Ensure designs align with the overall Hey Feelings brand aesthetic and educational goals.
  • Prepare and hand off design specifications and assets to the development team.

Who You Are:

  • You have a strong portfolio showcasing your UI/UX design work for web and/or mobile applications, demonstrating user-centered design thinking and visually appealing interfaces (please provide a link).
  • You are highly proficient in modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • You have a solid understanding of user experience principles, interaction design, usability best practices, and platform conventions (web, iOS, Android).
  • You possess a keen eye for visual design, layout, typography, and creating engaging user interfaces.
  • You can work collaboratively in a remote team, effectively communicating design ideas and rationale.
  • Experience designing for children, educational products (EdTech), or gamified experiences is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of front-end development capabilities and limitations is helpful.

Compensation & Logistics:

  • This is a Part-Time, remote, Contractor position, likely project-based or on an hourly retainer (estimated 10-25 hours per week depending on project needs).
  • Compensation: Estimated hourly rate $50 - $85 USD per hour, or project-based equivalent, based on experience and portfolio.
  • Flexible schedule, primarily asynchronous work with collaborative design sessions/calls as needed.

Why Join Hey Feelings?

  • Meaningful Impact: Contribute directly to improving the emotional well-being of children and families globally.
