About the Role:

Hey Feelings is seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Domain Expert to provide expert guidance and ensure the pedagogical integrity of our products and content. This is a part-time consulting role (approx. 5-10 hours per month, potentially variable) for an individual deeply rooted in child psychology, education, and evidence-based SEL practices. You will serve as a key advisor, reviewing materials and collaborating with our creative and product teams to ensure our ecosystem is developmentally appropriate, impactful, and authentic.

What You'll Do:

• Provide expert consultation on SEL concepts, child development theories (ages 3-9), and pedagogical best practices.
• Review and provide feedback on Hey Feelings content, including game mechanics, story narratives, digital module activities, parent guides, and marketing communications, ensuring alignment with SEL principles.
• Advise on the age-appropriateness and cultural sensitivity of materials.
• Collaborate with product developers, writers, and designers during the creation process to integrate SEL frameworks effectively.
• Stay current with the latest research, trends, and standards in SEL and child development.
• Potentially contribute to developing training materials or resources for educators using Hey Feelings Academy.

Who You Are:

• You hold an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Child Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Education (with a strong SEL focus), School Counseling, or a closely related field.
• You possess extensive professional experience (5+ years) working directly with children (ages 3-9) in educational or therapeutic settings, and/or significant experience in SEL curriculum development or research.
• You have a deep, nuanced understanding of social-emotional learning frameworks, child development milestones, and evidence-based practices.
• You can effectively translate complex psychological and educational concepts into practical, actionable feedback for a non-expert audience (designers, writers).
• You have excellent analytical and communication skills.
• You are passionate about creating high-quality, impactful learning experiences for young children.
• Experience consulting for EdTech companies or children's media is a strong plus.

Compensation & Logistics:

• This is a Part-Time, remote, Consultant/Contractor position with flexible hours (estimated 5-10 hours/month, project-based).
• Compensation: Estimated consulting rate $75 - $150+ USD per hour, commensurate with expertise and qualifications.
• Work is primarily asynchronous via document review and feedback, with occasional video calls for collaboration.
